KnotVisualGuide Privacy Policy · Updated 2026-08-10

A short note on your data.

KnotVisualGuide does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information.

KnotVisualGuide is an offline handbook that teaches you to tie 24 essential knots with step-by-step illustrated rope diagrams. The pages that follow describe, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with the things you type into it.

I · Collection

Information we collect

None. The app has no account system, no sign-in and no analytics. Nothing is asked of you beyond an optional display name, which is a label you type for yourself and which never leaves the phone.

II · Storage

What lives on your device

For the app to work, the following is kept in the operating system's local storage, on your phone, and nowhere else:

None of it is uploaded. Uninstalling the app removes every byte.

III · Permissions

What the app asks for

KnotVisualGuide requests no runtime permissions. It does not touch your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos, and it reads no storage beyond its own private application directory. No permission prompt should ever appear while you use it.

IV · Network

What goes over the wire

The app is fully offline. It ships with no HTTP client, no WebView and no socket code, so there is no connection for it to open. All 24 knots, their traced diagrams and their instructions are compiled into the app itself, which is why it works the same on a boat with no signal as it does at home.

V · Third parties

Who else is involved

None. No analytics provider, no crash reporter, no advertising network and no attribution SDK is integrated. The app is built with Flutter and uses open-source packages for local storage (Hive) and interface work; these are code libraries bundled into the binary, not services, and none of them transmits anything.

VI · Children

Younger readers

Because the app gathers nothing and sends nothing, it gathers nothing from children either. There is no personal data to collect, no profiling and no advertising, which puts it comfortably inside COPPA and the GDPR provisions covering children's data.

VII · Your rights

What you can do

Everything the app knows about you is already in your hands. Clear your favourites and progress from within the app, or uninstall it — the operating system then deletes the entire storage directory. Because no copy exists on any server, there is no account to close and no data request to file.

VIII · Revisions

Changes to this policy

If anything in this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will be revised, and material changes will appear in the app's release notes.
